I don't think I'll be coming back...posted Jan 13th 2008, 1:30AM

I don't really like the way SA is turning these days; a place I came to as refuge from DA has since sent me running to DA for refuge. That can't be right.
I don't know how much to submit and when though. The fact is that certain parts of the SA ToS are... badly enforced.
For instance, the submission agreement says:
I affirm that the Content I upload or create on SheezyArt.com is my creation, and that all influential sources are properly credited. I indemnify SheezyArt.com from any liability connected to the use of my Content. My Content does not violate any applicable laws or regulations.
Which, y'know, is quite clear - only upload stuff you did, any any references should be clearly marked.
The problem lies with the ToS itself. Which states:
It is expected that Content will not embody:
4. Stolen Material: Sharing, tracing, or otherwise under influence by intellectual property not owned or licensed, without proper credit to applicable third parties.
The problem in question lies with the bolded text.
I have seen, several times now, material copied without permission by the owners of the original image and uploaded to SA, crediting the creators of the original image. And said image not being removed.
Purely because the person who stole - and yes, it is stealing if you don't ask permission, and they can sue your hides whatever the ToS - the image has credited the original owner.
And as someone who has had their artwork ganked - inexplicably, I might add, as it's hardly world class - and coloured or just plain copied, this concerns me incredibly.
Because I sell my artwork (yes, some people are mad enough to buy it), and the last thing I want is for prospective purchasers to see my artwork on someone else's page, whether DA, SA or anything else.
So understandably, I'm iffy about supporting any site that lets thieves get away with stealing anyone's work.
At least I can force DA to remove my stuff; SA's ToS implied anyone can upload my stuff without fear, so long as they credit me, permission or not. Or anyone else's, come to that.
And since nothing I do is available under any sort of Creative Commons license... You can't upload it without my permission.
And yet... SA's ToS, as I said above...
Yeah, maybe you see the point I'm getting at. I read ToSes. I read everything. Hell, I read metro adverts in French, which probably says more about me than anything else. And this ToS absolutely fucking stinks. Because a Submission Agreement isn't necessarily the same as a Terms of Service Agreement, and because SA have themselves let copied or stolen artwork be allowed after a complaint by either a third party or the artist has been submitted, it implies that their ToS is... to put it bluntly, a pile of shit.
And even though my art sucks, some people have considered it enough to steal. I'd rather not give people permission by uploading it to a site such as this.
I was invited here by a friend some two years ago; I'm sad that it's turned into this.
No problem! My brain's fried 'cause I have a cooold! Been surfing SA for like...three hours (on SLOW internet!) and I swear all the pages started blurring together...I bet I didn't watch half the people I thought I did Or put the wrong comments on the wrong art! lol
Well, I'd definitely be interested in doing a collab with you. Because I'm usually CGing the inked pictures in my gallery, I'm a bit iffy about other people colouring them too. But I love doing work specifically for other people to colour - would you be interested? (Do you want me to note you about it? )
Hell yes I'm interested! Since I'm no good with drawing at all, all I can aspire to do is collab coloring So it would be great if we could do something together =D
I'm confortable coloring almost everything: anthro, non-antro, dark atmospheres, joyful scenes, portraits, romance, etc.
The only thing I'm not quite good is things like trees wich require lots more of a drawing hand to make the coloring look good (I gotta think how to draw it like it has layers of leaves, since they aren't on the lineart). Also I don't ADD backgrounds if the image doesn't have one.
Oh don't worry, I hate trees too. They're a pain to draw, a pain to colour and no matter what method I read on making them easier, it never works. >__< And as to backgrounds, I tend to avoid them for the most part, so...
You seem to be pretty easygoing in terms of taste. Is there anything in particular you enjoy colouring, then? (You can probably tell from glancing through my gallery what I'm best with. )
Well, I'm really not in a creative mood lately, so I can't come up with an idea right now Tomorrow I'll be going out on vacations anyway, so I'll note you when I get back. I just uploaded one of my coloring, so if you want to peek at my style, that would be a good example.
